Any interest in another?

Postby shaeger » Wed Feb 08, 2017 1:08 am

Anyone interested in doing another tourney? Either 2 v 2 style or something centered around s50 or tribal. And maybe banning the use of a certain fat archer during...

Thomas is in already I guess. He started the thread. He doesn't remember starting the thread...

We need at least what, 12 to make it interesting? Decks must comply with s50 and tribal rules?

Tribal? Okay, I'm game.

The real challenge, I've found, to running tournaments is:
- Lack of communication between opponents
- Overdue games, usually a result of ^^^^
- Figuring some way to visually show the standings to players. There's a few apps for bracket tournaments, but most of them need all players to register, and it's just too much of a hassle for some. I haven't liked some tournaments in the past that haven't visually shown the brackets; it's just text here on the forums on who advances and who plays who. I like to see the big picture.

If you guys think you can overcome these challenges, then by all means, let's rock.

Now we just have to get that tribal minotaur deck up to speed... ;)

Stay up,

About the standings/brackets, I remembered quite long ago we had tennis tournament at work, and one person handled it via challonge.com. As I checked front page now, there is demo which can generate single/double/round robin, and it can swiss and also something called "two stage". In my opinion, it is visual enough and allows to look at tournament status for anyone knowing the match URL. And it's free (don't know how they earn money then, probably have some paid features).

We've tried Challenge before. Because users have to register, it wasn't popular.

I think the biggest hurdle to a tournament at this point is lack of players.

Just sayin

challonge.com (not challenge, that's one letter spelling "mistake") does not require to register for all people - just single person who's handling all the stuff, at least that's how we were doing. Any results we were sending to one person who was then updating the public brackets.

Well and lack of players.. I get an impression that there's not so many of them. I wonder if it was different in the past.
